Danville Boy Is Hit By a Car While Crossing a Crosswalk

On January 15, 2011 while a young boy was running across Piney Forest Road collided with a Buick Sedan, according to GODANRIVER.com. The boy was transported to Duke University Medical Center to treat for severe head injuries. The boy is in stable condition at this time. I hope that this boy will have a speedy recovery and overcomes this terrible accident. There are laws in Virginia that protect the rights of those crossing the street and driving through an intersection. The law in Virginia states that the driver of a vehicle must yeild the right away to a pedestrian if a police officer, device, or sign is telling the driver to yeild the right away to the person walking across the street. A pedestrian should not cross the street if cars have the right of way. The law states that pedestrians should wait until the traffic signal, sign, or police officer signals you to cross the crosswalk. Neither party has filed charges against the other for money to resolve the damages caused by the accident at this time.
