Hope for those who Suffer From A Brain Injury

In Parksley, Virginia a family continues their struggle over their daughter’s traumatic brain injury. On the night of May 23, 2010 Courtney Bloxom was driving home when she crashed causing the young girl to spend the next seven months in a coma. Courtney was preparing for her high school graduation, which was to take place within the week following her accident. The teen was moved to a nursing home on the Shore on December 13, 2010 to start her long recovery to being her old self. The teen is now experiencing new milestones in her life, like being able to speak and walk again. The community on the Shore has been helpful in raising money, providing a home away from home for Courtney’s mom Becky, and support. There are different ways the brain can be injured, in Courtney’s case her brain, due to the rapid deceleration of her car, hit her skull which can cause problems the nerves in the brain to become damaged. Brain Injuries are different for every victim, hopefully Courtney will be able to have a swift recovery in the nursing home with the help of her loving family.
