Man eluding police causes 3-Vehicle Crash in Newport News

On Monday afternoon a police officer stopped Kurt Edward Fortner of Newport News about a quarter-mile from Exit 258 off of I-64, according to The Virginian Pilot. As the police officer was calling for back up, Fortner drove off the ramp hitting a minivan that flipped over into the median on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. When the minivan flipped a tire flew off hitting a Nissan Altima. The mother and two children in the minivan and Fortner sustained minimal injuries. The women and her two young children in the minivan were not hurt in the accident. Fortner, once released from the hospital will be facing charges. The Newport News car accident teaches us that running away from the police can have dire consequences.
