Train kills Man in Lanexa, Virginia

A Newport News Waterworks worker was killed last Friday, February 25, 2011, at the intersection of Outpost and Rockahock Road by a train, according to the Virginia Gazette. The train was traveling from Richmond to Newport News at 70mph with 100 passengers aboard. The man did not stop at the railroad crossing nor were there any gates to prohibit travel due to an oncoming train. The man died at the scene of the crime. Lee Ann Hartman stated, “The entire Newport News Waterworks family is grieving the loss of one of our employees today.” The man’s name has not been released yet. I send my sympathy to the family of the victim. It is such a tragedy to hear when a person has died before there time.
