Barriers may have prevented the death of a blind man in a tragic accident

The mother of Cameron Cuthbertson was awarded $17 million. She filed a lawsuit against the Metropolitian Transportation Authority after Cuthberton, who was blind, mistook a gap between Metro Blue Line trains for a door. The lawsuit argued a lack of barriers on the Blue Line platforms was to blame.

Eyewitness News did an investigation on Cuthbertson's death and highlighted safety violations on the Blue Line platform.

The MTA later made changes and installed barriers to prevent similar accidents. Reported by abclocal.go.com
