The owner of a popular sandwich shop in Atlantic was able to reopen two days after a car rammed into his restaurant in an early Sunday morning crash, breaking a large plate glass window and taking out a cinderblock wall.

"It gives drive-in restaurant a whole new meaning," said Ron Wolff, the owner of Wolff's Sandwich Shoppe. Wolff is also a member of the Accomack County Board of Supervisors.
Wolff was awakened about 5 a.m. Sunday by a telephone call from the Atlantic fire chief giving the bad news that his business had been damaged when a vehicle crashed into it.

The driver, who was uninjured, was a teenage boy who apparently took a relative's car without permission and went joyriding, Wolff said.

The vehicle was traveling south on Atlantic Road when the driver tried unsuccessfully to negotiate the turn onto Nocks Landing Road at a high rate of speed, Wolff was told.

By Monday Wolff had called in a contractor, a commercial cleaning company, a county building inspector and the health department.
