Just a few months ago, Jan Morgan of Starkville lay in a coma, taking food through a tube in her stomach, her brain damaged - whether permanently, doctors couldn't say.
She was trying to survive injuries she suffered when she was struck - twice - by a car as she trained for an Iron Man Triathlon on her bike, one Sunday morning in May.
No one knew if she would live, much less if she would walk again, talk again, reach for her husband's hand again.
Now, back home in Starkville, she is doing all of that, and more, she said, but it's not enough. Not nearly enough.
"My husband probably doesn't want to hear me say this," said Morgan, 57, "but I am anxious to get back on a bike. I would like to attempt that Iron Man at some point."
She's right.
