CHILLICOTHE -- First-year Huntington High School football coach Wade Bartholomew recently spent time with more than 150 other high school coaches from across the country at the NFL/USA Football Youth Football Summit for Safety.
The main topic, as anyone who has followed developments at the high school, college and professional levels of football can guess, was concussions. The greater issue of overall athlete safety, however, also is starting to become a much larger concern at all age levels.

"We don't take any chances," Bartholomew said of his coaching staff's philosophy as contact drills and scrimmages have gotten under way. "Any big hit at all, the kid's being checked out. If they start wobbling at any time in the game or they just aren't playing at the level we know they are capable of playing at, we're going to pull them out and make sure they're okay."
