A team of scientists at Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia Tech has discovered that a minute object or nanoparticle containing the compound, which can be used for diagnosis in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques, can be seen precisely within the tumour when scanned and can be used to provide radiotherapy. Glioblastomas are normally exceptionally difficult to visualise with MRI as their cells characteristically extend well beyond well-defined tumour margins.
