Put The Brakes On Fatalities Day

New auto-safety features helped bring the number of people killed in New Jersey motor-vehicle crashes last year to 556, which Hillsdale Police Chief Chip Stalter said “marks the lowest number in the state since the 1940s,” despite a huge boost in the number of miles driven. But it’s personal choices that can save the most lives – including your own.

That’s the purpose of Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day, which aims to make drivers more aware of how they can prevent and avoid fatal accidents.

The Oct. 10 event “will serve to concentrate community awareness and cooperation,” Stalter said.
