Baseball Fan Bryan Stow - Leaves Hospital

Giants fan Bryan Stow reached a major milestone Tuesday in his long recovery from a brain injury he suffered March 31 in an attack outside Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

With his family at his side, Stow left San Francisco General Hospital in the morning, bound for a long-term rehabilitation center. While the 42-year-old paramedic from Santa Cruz is still in the early stages of his fight, doctors said, his recent progress - in breathing, speaking, eating and moving - has readied him for the next step.

The family said last week that Stow - who began speaking only recently, cannot yet walk, and is still being weaned from strong medications - "continues to talk with a stronger and clearer voice."

At the end of a recent hospital visit by Bruce Bochy, Stow told the Giants manager, "Bye. I love you," the family said. And before a visit by one of Stow's favorite bands, Queensryche, he looked at them through the doorway of his room and said, "They are all dressed up. I'm not dressed up." Later, Stow asked the band to dedicate a song to him.
