Sara Ghaffari-Nik was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the crash, according to police reports. The driver, Hossein Ghaffari-Nik, 27, was arrested and charged with DWI and manslaughter, he was the brother of the victim.
Officer Gottardt said the FCPD has "high intensity" DWI enforcement efforts. The FCPD has weekly DWI enforcement efforts, including random sobriety checkpoints and directed "six pack" patrols. These are teams of officers roving the streets looking specifically for impaired drivers.
