A Callaway woman was killed early Sunday morning in Henry when her vehicle ran off the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.
Erica M. Daniel, 20, who was traveling north on Route 607 (Fairfield Road) in a 1998 Ford Contour, was ejected from the vehicle, according to Sgt. Rob Carpentieri with the Virginia State Police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brothers Jerry Harvile, 23, and James Harvile, 21, both of Franklin County, were airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Carpentieri said. Jerry Harvile, who was in the rear seat of the vehicle, was also ejected. None of the three victims were wearing seat belts.
At press time, James Harvile had been released from the hospital, and Jerry Harvile was listed in fair condition, according to Eric Earnhart with Carilion.
Excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash, Carpentieri said. The incident is still under investigation.
The crash occurred about 1:17 a.m. on Fairfield Road, just north of Route 605 (Henry Road).
