Chesapeake Mother Charged After Driving Drunk With Infant in Back Seat

A mother from Chesapeake has been charged with felony child neglect and DUI for driving under the influence of alcohol with her infant in the vehicle's back seat, according to the WAVY news website.  Twenty-eight-year-old Heather Maiers was reportedly driving on Virginia Beach's Oceana Blvd. just after 11:00 p.m. when police stopped her for driving.  Maiers was administered a blood alcohol test, which revealed her blood alcohol content was over the legal limit at .13 (the limit is .08).  According to the site, the mother of the three-week-old baby has been arrested for DUI in the past, and she was convicted of drunk driving in 2006.  Maiers was charged with DUI- Second Offense and Felony Child Neglect.
