Cyclist Rides for Brain Injury Research 12 Years After Bike Accident

A twenty-seven-year-old bicyclist who suffered serious brain injuries in a near-fatal biking accident nearly 12 years ago is now riding to raise money for brain injury research, according to The Daily Sentinel.  Although Jerry Christensen still has some neurological problems related to the serious mountain bike accident that occurred when he was only 15, he considers himself fully recovered, and he has proven his determination physically and mentally.  Not only did Christensen graduate from college, but his current Recovery is Now tour shows off his physical abilities, despite the fact that the bicycle accident initially left him paralyzed on his left side.  After the devastating accident, the biker was in a coma for five days, but ten years of rehabilitation helped him recover and motivated him to help other brain injury victims.
