On May 1, 2011 a 17-year-old, Avery Spence of Midlothian, died in a crash in Nottoway County, according to Richmond Times-Dispatch. The driver of the car lost control of the vehicle and over corrected twice. The vehicle then struck an embankment causing the vehicle to flip over. Spence was ejected from the car. Spence died at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville due to his injuries. The other passengers were taken to the hospital for their injuries, all serious but not life threatening. The driver, Joseph Dorazio of Moseley, was charged with reckless driving. The police are still investigating the accident.
