According to W. Va. State Police, Samantha Jo Ennis, 22, was traveling south on I-81 about 3am when the Ford Focus she was driving veered off the east side of the highway, went through a median and was sent airborne over the northbound lanes.

Police said the vehicle landed on the shoulder of the roadway, traveled down an embankment and became airborne again before rolling onto the driver's side. That is when Ennis was ejected.  Ennis, the cars only occupant, was transported to Winchester Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The accident remains under investigation, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Ennis is the sixth Frederick County resident to die in a traffic accident in the past two weeks.
