Hampton Roads Holiday Fatalities

This past holiday in Virginia resulted in 14 deaths due to accidents, 10 over the Christmas weekend and 4 during New Years Eve, according The Associated Press. Of the 14 fatalities 3 happened in Gloucester, James City, and Newport News. This is a decrease from 2009 that saw 16 fatalities during the holidays. Over the past year the state troopers investigated accidents around the state to determine what people in Virginia were most cited for when they were pulled over:

5,649 people were cited for driving drunk

72,532 people were cited for reckless driving

197,616 people were cited for speeding

33,053 people were cited for no seat belt
