Melfa, Virginia Double Fatality on Bobtown Road in Single Car Accident

On August 1, 2011 Virginia State Police were called to a single vehicle accident on Rt. 178 north of Rt. 609 in Pungoteague, Va. The driver of the Buick Century was traveling on Rt. 178 when it ran off the road to the right, struck a tree stomp and overturned, killing the driver and front seat passenger. The vehicle was occupied by 4 people. The back two passengers were taken to the local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Notification to family members has been made. All occupants were wearing theit seat belts, alcohol was a factor. Currently the investigation is on-going.
