Occoquan, Va. | County Supervisors to Seek Truck Restrictions

The vote is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Occoquan resident James Phelps sees the cut-through traffic com­ing from Tanyard Hill Road firsthand and is happy the supervisors are doing something about it. Phelps lives with his sister and her two school-age children on Union Street – which con­nects with Tanyard Hill. With all the traffic, Phelps said, his relatives shouldn't even be outside during the afternoon given the num­ber of vehicles and the proximity of his home to the street.

"We are reaching the tip­ping point here, and we're trying to do something about it," said Phelps, who believes an estimated 2,500 cars and trucks take the route everyday.

Occoquan Supervisor Michael C. May said it's un­realistic to prohibit every­one from cutting through but it's worth making a request to Commonwealth Transportation Board regarding truck traffic. www2.insidenova.com
