Poquoson Boat Outing Gone Wrong

On Monday January 3,2011 two men tried to retrieve the duck that they had shot the boat tipped over, according to the Virginian Pilot. The two men were plunged into 37 degree water with no access to life preservers. Isaac Bowles, 24 year old from Yorktown, was pronounced dead at Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton. His friend Lawrence Hansford, 28 year old from Seaford, is in critical condition. John Bull stated, “It’s imperative that people have life preservers…It’s the law, and it’s wise to do so. You never know what can happen on the water, you need to be prepared.”
