Portsmouth l Driver Va Girl Receives Settlement

A personal injury case against the Portsmouth Naval Hospital was settled in December out of court for $2.3 million. In 2006 Mrs. Holweger went to Portsmouth Naval Hospital because she was having cramps in her lower abdomen, at the time she was 35 weeks pregnant. When she arrived she was moved to a triage room to watch the fetus’s heart beat. After 2 and half hours she had an emergency cesarean section. The girl was born pale, limp, with respiratory problems, and severe neurological problems. The settlement order broke down to the attorney’s getting $675,000 in fees, $54,000 will go toward medical bills, and 1.57 million will into a trust for care for the child.
