Portsmouth Man Dies in Hit and Run

On Tuesday, January 4, 2011 a man, while crossing a street, was struck by a car that did not stop to check if he was alive and well, according to the Virginia Pilot. The man who struck the victim was a 34 year old male from Chesapeake, named Terry Fant, who was charged with hit and run resulting in death and driving on a suspended or revoked license. The police were able to catch Mr. Fant because of witnesses to the accident identified the make, model, and license plate of the car. The man who was killed, Nathaniel Bethea, was 54 years old and lived near the scene of the accident.
