Son killed by Franklin County Police

Posted on Mar 01, 2011

The parents of Max Frye are suing Sherriff Ewell Hunt, a deputy, and the Franklin Police Department for using excessive force that killed their son on July 24, according to ABC 13 WSET-TV Lynchburg Danville Roanoke. The parents called the police to their house on July 24 to deescalate a situation, which they did not respond to until later. When the deputy arrived on the scene he heard Max Frye fire off a shot, which he in turn fired 12 shots. Out of the 12 shots the deputy shot, 8 hit their son Max. The parents are taking legal action under the claim that the Sheriff, deputy, and the department were negligent, because they did not offer proper training. The improper training the deputy had caused the wrongful death of their son Max Frye.
