South Boston, Va. | Driver Flees Scene of Wreck

According to an accident report filed by Officer R. L. Lawson, the driver of a 2010 GMC truck drove off the roadway and struck a utility pole before fleeing the scene at 12:13 a.m.

The truck is owned by Robert Potts of Florida, the report stated.

A 1998 Ford Expedition driven by 56-year-old Margaret Boyd of South Boston ran into the fallen wires of the utility pole causing $1,000 damage to her vehicle, Lawson said.

Boyd was not injured.

The investigating officer estimated damage to the 2010 GMC truck at $12,000 and damage to the Century Link utility pole at $5,000.

An investigation is continuing.
