Update: Tractor Trailer Driver Killed on I-95 in Lorton Virginia|Va. Lawyer

State police have not released  the driver's name, but a relative tells insidenova.com that he was 24 years old and leaves behind two children.

State police said the tractor-trailer slammed into the back of a VDOT work truck on I-95 near Lorton Road. The crash happened at 2:13 a.m. in the northbound lanes.

State police said the tractor-trailer rear-ended a “cushion” truck in a work zone, rupturing one of the big rig’s fuel tanks and sparking a fire.

The truck went up in flames, killing the driver, said state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.
The tractor-trailer was loaded with produce, she said.

No one was in the cushion truck, but a Virginia Department of Transportation contract worker suffered minor injuries jumping over a Jersey wall to avoid the crash.

The fire proved difficult to douse and left a “great deal” of debris at the scene, Geller said.
