Waynesboro, Virginia | Car Crash - $43,000 in Damages

A business sustained $43,000 in damage and two people were taken to the hospital after a car crashed into a building in Waynesboro on Monday.

Police said a vehicle struck a parked truck, which plowed through the large plate glass window in the front of Jenkins Automotive on West Main Street at 10:42 a.m.

It took about 25 minutes for rescue workers to free a customer, 69-year-old Nancy Ann Carter of Waynesboro, who was pinned under debris, and the driver trapped inside the car, said city police Sgt. Brian Edwards. Both were transported to Augusta Health with injuries not considered life-threatening.

“She was sitting in the waiting area, waiting to have her vehicle worked on,” Edwards said of Carter.
