If you have suffered a severe brain injury due to the negligence of someone else, it is important to know what your rights are.

Each year there are more than two million head injuries in the United States.  Almost 1.5 million of these injuries are traumatic brain injuries (TBI), head injuries that disrupt the function of the brain.  About 28,000 Virginians a year visit the emergency room for treatment of a TBI.

Traumatic brain injuries are, as the name suggests, caused by trauma. They are usually caused by a sudden blow or jolt to the head that causes bruising, bleeding, or swelling of the brain.  Common causes of TBI include tractor trailer, truck and car accidents. The symptoms can be extremely varied and may not show up for some time after the accident. 

If you've been diagnosed with a brain injury, you may require on-going medical treatment, physical therapy, occupation therapy, rehabilitation or other special services. You may be wondering how you can pay for these services.
