Texan Arrested Six Times For Driving Intoxicated
Recently, a Texan was arrested for the 6th time while driving intoxicated over the legal limit! In Montgomery County, Texas, 45-year-old Ronnie Paul Hobgood was arrested for the sixth time for driving intoxicated. Since 1990, Mr. Hobgood had five convictions and served two prison sentences and had caused the death of one person. On Monday, August 8, 2016, Hobgood was sentenced to 50 years in prison by a judge. In 25 years, at the age of 70, he will be eligible for parole.
Hobgood’s fourth conviction for intoxication manslaughter brought him a 20 year sentence for which he served 16 years before getting on parole. His fifth drunk driving conviction brought him back to prison. Then, he was released on parole, again, in 2015. In February, he hit two cars after leaving a bar. His blood alcohol level was .272 which is more than three times the legal limit. Under Texas law, he is considered an habitual offender since he has already been in prison twice for driving under the influence. This means that the minimum punishment in this case would be 25 years.
The prosecutor said that when Hobgood is not in custody, he is drinking and driving and putting everyone at risk. The consensus was that the only thing they could do was to get him out of the community, so he cannot hurt anyone else.
